JFFC Tournament # 4 - Mt Pleasant, Hermanus
The coastal town of Hermanus hosted the next tournament in the JFFC when all the teams headed to the Mt Pleasant Sports Grounds on Saturday 3 May 2025.
With 600 players from 40 teams participating, it made it the biggest tournament to date. With great weather and excellent football, the spectators and the community had a fantastic day of junior football. |
JFFC Tournament # 3 - Appelwood
The beautiful location of Applewood Primary School in Grabouw, was the next tournament on the JFFC Circuit. Tournament # 3 would be hosted by Shibobo FC at this picturesque venue.
Now sporting 465 players, the interest to play in a JFFC tournament is growing, seen on the entries alone. It is projected that the next tournament would most likely host between 500 and 600 children.
It must be added that there is constant engagement between Blue Ocean Dynamic, the AVS Referee Academy and the clubs to determine the best product for the participation of the children. To give them the best experience to develop the love of football. Creating a safe space for them to play in and develop their game.
A record 33 teams entered, of which Applewood was the first school to enter the JFFC as a guest team.
All players were well behaved and all teams conducted themselves amicably.
All results are captured on the JFFC website space. |
Gladiators FC Withdraw
On April 10, 2025, the CFF received the sad news that one of its founder clubs, Gladiators FC had to withdraw from the League due to financial constraints.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the club for its massive contribution which has become the successful CFF Overberg Regional Championship Division. |
JFFC Tournament # 2 - Botriver
Botriver was the second host for the JFFC Tournament Circuit where Gouga United FC were the hosting club.
On saturday 29 March, the clubs descended on the community sports grounds and again the numbers increased to 425 players.
All age groups were catered for and the families came in support as usual. The excitement the players get when they see their families cheering them on has a magic impact on their performances. Their faces showed every inch of fight they have for their team.
Special appreciation must go to the AVS Referee Academy who trained referees specifically for the JFFC to handle 7s football. Their approach and care toward the players was commendable to say the least.
All results are captured on the JFFC portion of the CFF website. |
JFFC Tournament # 1 - Hawston
After hosting the Launch, it befell Hawston to host the first of the 2025 Season Tournament Circuit.
The Hawston community did not disappoint and allowed their hospitality to lead the way. With 405 players participating and the inclusion of u8 as well, it made for a day full of action in all age groups.
It must be iterated, that the JFFC in its infancy is learning as it goes along. Pre-Tournament briefings are held to establish any needs and requirements to be in place by hosting clubs; as well as debriefing meetings after the tournament to ensure that problems are addressed; and potential problems sorted out before they become issues.
All participating teams are required to show sportsmanship and respect first; their skills and talent would be on show for all to see.
What was heartwarming was to see the families that came out to support their children. Amazing.
The winners of the various age groups can be found under the JFFC pages of the CFF in this website. |

Express FC Crowned Community Shield Knockout Champions!
Express FC were crowned the inaugural CFF Community Shield Knockout Champions on Saturday 1 June 2024. They beat Young Powerline FC on penalties after they were deadlocked at 1-1.
In what could only be described as a war of attrition, the teams attacked relentlessly with an ebb and flow of forward momentum being thrown consistently at each other's goal lines. Both teams had plenty of opportunities to take the lead, but that fell to Young Powerline FC.
After pouncing on an Express FC mistake in the backline, the ball was crossed from right to left where an awaiting Sixolile Mbana headered the ball into the back of the net.
The attending supporters erupted with joy and invaded the pitch to celebrate with their team. After a brief moment, the match was restarted. It stayed 1-0 to Young Powerline until half time.
Express FC made a few changes to their attack and midfield and brought on Mzikayise Libala who made all the difference. His silky smooth passing game, running into space, was too much for the Young Powerline FC team. You could see the tide turn in Express' favour.
With 5 minutes to go, Express FC were awarded a free kick on the edge of the goal area in the middle of the field. Up stepped Libala who buried the free kick in the net to make it 1-1.
The supporters erupted and invaded the field again, much to the dismay of the referee Mr Potgieter who was very ready to issue yellow cards for pitch invasions.
The match ended 1-1 and as the rain started to pour down, the penalty shootout would commence. The supporters where going nowhere, except to find some shelter - but this final they were going to see out through to the end.
In the downpour, Express FC managed to win 4-3 on penalties. Once again revealing their pedigree as knockout specialists.
Overall, the day was enjoyed by everyone in attendance and much support was gained for the CFF in the Gansbaai area.
Congratulations to all teams that participated and ensured the success that was achieved on the day. |

Without a doubt, you can see the passion and support football has in the Overberg Region.
The first match between home team Gladiators FC and Gouga United FC from Botriver was a tough encounter where the young Gladiators FC team pulled off a 3-2 victory with Lizalise Mpana voted as the Man of the Match.
